WHERE DO WE FIND FREEDOM?

Got My Wings is a performance and educational project inspired by the writings of Jarvis Jay Masters, an innocent man on death row.

The performance piece is a ballet set to an original score, written and performed by composer and musician Daniel Blake, with choreography by Tomiko Magario, and featuring an ensemble from Westchester Ballet Company.

Got My Wings made its virtual premiere in January 2022 at Bethany Arts Community and was supported by funding from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by ArtsWestchester.

Two subsequent grants from Humanities New York supported a Got My Wings educational workshop for high school students throughout Northern Westchester, New York, in Fall 2022 and again in 2023. More info on these workshops can be found here.

Got My Wings made its live-in person premiere in a series of performances (February 3, 4, and 5, 2023) in Katonah, New York with the support of Creative Alliance Project.
